There will be a quiz on Wednesday that asses all fraction concepts taught up until this point. Towards the latter part of the week we will be moving into Investigation 2 of our Bits and Pieces text. Students will be receiving new IXL logins this week.

Our school recently merged accounts and we needed to issue new user names. Past achievements and awards will still remain. We will be working from a new text this week entitled: Bits and Pieces I. The text is heavily group centric with an emphasis on exploration and discovery. Students will be guided to reach an answer, and not immedatiely told how to arrive at an answer. Some problems will prove very difficult. There is very little algorithmical repitition with problems from this particular text.

Students will work to enhance their understanding of long division with one-digit and two-digit divisors. We will be using varying interactive technologies in the classroom to scaffold our learning.

Throughout the week we will be learning about volume. Students will have opportunties to see how we can use volume in practical situations. We will be learning in groups and in centers throughout the classroom designed to give students multiple ways to grasp the concept.

Towards the end of the week we will be having a quiz on volume. How can you find the volume of a 3D figure? How is multiplication different from division?
